The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday night, February 5, 2021, in Atlantic City. According to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner, at approximately 9:27 p.m., the Atlantic City Police Department was notified of a shooting on the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue. Atlantic City police officers and EMS responded to the scene and found 25-year-old Dameer Smith of New York City on the street with a gunshot wound. Smith was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus, where he was pronounced dead. Officials said Smith died from a single gunshot wound. The investigation remained active by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
