A 17-year-old Vineland teen was arrested in connection with the robbery and shooting of an Atlantic City man. Police said a 41-year-old victim called 911 at 7:50 p.m. Sunday and reported that he had been grazed by a bullet on Indiana Avenue. Earlier, at 7:19 p.m., a ShotSpotter alert brought officers to Atlantic Avenue, but they found no evidence of a shooting at that time. According to Lt. Kevin Fair, the victim told police he had been assaulted and robbed by a group of boys in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue. He then searched the area for his belongings and saw two of the suspects. When he tried to confront them, one of the teens pulled out a gun and fired, grazing him. The victim left the area and called 911. He was treated at the scene for a minor injury. On Wednesday, Officers Sangenys Estrella-Garcia and Timothy Bethel were patrolling on foot in the 1600 block of Atlantic Avenue when they saw a teen pictured in a wanted flyer that had been distributed to officers about a half-hour earlier, Fair said. The 17-year-old was arrested and was allegedly found with 17 grams of marijuana. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, conspiracy, robbery and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center. Detectives were still trying to identify additional suspects in the robbery.
