Two teens charged in Atlantic City shooting that wounded 9-year-old

Atlantic City police charged two 17-year-olds in a Sept. 3 shooting on Indiana Avenue that injured a 9-year-old girl in the foot after multiple shots were fired into a residence. One teen was from Atlantic City and the other from Vineland; both were charged with assault and weapons offenses, and the Atlantic City teen also faced a marijuana possession charge.
Two teens have been charged in an Atlantic City shooting that wounded a 9-year-old girl last month. According to police, multiple gunshots were fired into a residence in the 500 block of Indiana Avenue at about 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 3. The girl was struck in the foot and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment after ShotSpotter alerted officers to the scene. Lt. Kevin Fair said an investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit led to charges against a 17-year-old from Atlantic City and another 17-year-old from Vineland. Police said the Vineland teen was already being held at Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in connection with a separate shooting. The Atlantic City teen was arrested Oct. 24 in the 1700 block of Arctic Avenue by Officers Melvin Murray III and Michael Gunsser. Police said he was also found with a small quantity of marijuana. Both teens were charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and conspiracy. The Atlantic City teen was additionally charged with possession of marijuana. Both were being held at Harborfields. Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Violent Crimes Unit.
