Two men were wounded in separate Atlantic City shootings less than three hours apart Saturday night.
The first shooting happened during a block party in Stanley Holmes Village, according to witnesses, who said the gunfire sent several people running. Police responded to the 600 block of Howard Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert, Capt. Kevin Fair said. Officers found evidence of gunfire but did not locate a victim at the scene. A witness told BreakingAC there was a lot of blood.
A short time later, a 35-year-old Atlantic City man arrived at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus in a personal vehicle with gunshot wounds, Fair said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. Police did not release further information.
The second shooting was reported at 11:13 p.m. in the 100 block of South Michigan Avenue. A 36-year-old man from Deptford was taken to the hospital with an injury that was not considered life-threatening.
An Atlantic City resident later posted on Facebook that his car was stopped and his 15-year-old daughter was handcuffed while police apparently searched for suspects. In response to questions, Fair said police were not releasing any other information about the investigations.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit at 609-347-5766 or send an anonymous text to tip411 or 847411 beginning the message with ACPD.
