A Pleasantville man was convicted of killing a teenager as he stood on his porch in Atlantic City. Lewis Johnson, 34, was found guilty of murder Tuesday in the killing of Cu’raan Williams, 17. Williams was fatally shot June 8, 2020, on the second-floor balcony of his home on Blaine Avenue in Atlantic City. According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Johnson drove from Easton, Pennsylvania, to the home after a physical fight the night before involving Shaquana Lewis’ daughter and Williams’ foster brother, who was her daughter’s boyfriend. Prosecutors said Lewis was allegedly targeting Williams’ foster brother. When they arrived in the 2000 block of Blaine Avenue, Johnson ran up the steps to the second-floor balcony, pistol-whipped Williams, and shot him in the back and foot. Johnson then fled in the car, stopped at a liquor store in Pleasantville, and drove back to his apartment in Pennsylvania. Johnson and Shaquana Lewis were arrested in Pennsylvania the next day, and authorities recovered the gun used in the killing. Lewis later agreed to testify against Johnson as part of a plea agreement. The article says she is now serving an eight-year prison term at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility and must serve 85 percent of that sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Johnson was also found guilty of several weapons offenses, including certain persons not to possess weapons. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 4 before Judge Todd Miller and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.
