Three men wanted in connection with the shooting of a man in Atlantic City have been arrested, according to Atlantic City police. The charges followed an investigation into a March 15 shooting at South Carolina and Baltic avenues. Police said that on March 27, 2020, at 11:57 a.m., Officers Kevin Perez and Christian Ivanov responded to the 500 block of North Tennessee Avenue for a report of a man waving a handgun. While responding, they saw a car driven by one of the wanted juveniles, who also matched the description of the armed suspect. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away. The pursuit ended in the 1300 block of Magellan Avenue, where the juvenile driver got out and ran. Officer Ivanov chased him and saw him throw a fanny pack to the ground. Officer Valmir Loga recovered the pack, which contained a loaded handgun. The juvenile was then taken into custody. After the vehicle stopped, Officer Perez arrested the passenger, Jermaine Daniels, 22, of Atlantic City, without incident. Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen. As a crowd formed nearby, Officers Loga and Jeffrey Hannon spotted a second wanted juvenile. With Sergeant James Herbert, they approached him, and he ran into an apartment building. Officers found him inside his residence, where he tried to flee and hide. He was taken into custody after a struggle that police said included him spitting on officers. Once in the back of a patrol car, he allegedly kicked the interior of the vehicle. Police also said he had a small amount of marijuana. At 3:59 p.m., Officer Aaron Jones saw the third wanted male at Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Adriatic Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and was also found with a small amount of marijuana. Police identified those arrested in the shooting investigation only as two 17-year-old males and one 15-year-old male, all from Atlantic City. One 17-year-old was charged with two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, as well as aggravated assault, conspiracy, eluding, obstruction of justice, and receiving stolen property. The second 17-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, aggravated assault on a police officer, throwing bodily fluids on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
