Authorities have identified the man fatally shot in Atlantic City on Thursday as Bernard Murphy, 36. Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said Murphy was found dead at about 11:30 p.m. in the area of Florida and Pacific avenues.
BreakingAC previously reported that officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found Murphy in front of a home on the first block of South Florida Avenue. Investigators also identified a crime scene in front of a home just north of where Murphy was found.
A family member told BreakingAC that Murphy was originally from Brooklyn and had moved to Atlantic City a few years earlier with his mother and brother.
Tyner said no arrests had been made in the killing. The prosecutor’s release did not mention a teenager who was arrested after allegedly fleeing a car seen driving from the area. According to the report, the teen was being held at Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center after allegedly throwing two guns while running.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the homicide.
