Atlantic City police were looking for a man they said wounded two people in a shooting Thursday night.
Police identified the suspect as Lamar Quarles, 33, of Atlantic City. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Police were called to the Schoolhouse Apartments just after 8 p.m. Thursday on a report of a man being shot, Sgt. Kevin Fair said Tuesday. Officers found a 51-year-old man with serious injuries and took him to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. His name was not released.
Officers then found a second victim inside an apartment. Police identified him as Erick Harvey, 27, who also had gunshot wounds. He was taken to the city hospital and placed in custody after officers found he had multiple warrants for his arrest, Fair said.
Police said one of the victims was also charged after a loaded gun was found inside his apartment, where two small children were present. An investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit led to charges against Harvey of unlawful possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said he remained hospitalized and would be taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility after his release.
Anyone with information on Quarles' whereabouts was asked to contact police.
