Atlantic City police said four teenage boys were arrested after officers stopped a car on Albany Avenue and found a loaded handgun inside. Police said the vehicle initially sped off after an officer attempted a stop, and the teens were later charged with eluding and weapons offenses, with additional drug charges for some of them.
Four Atlantic City teens were charged with weapons offenses after police pulled over a car and found a loaded handgun inside, authorities said. According to police, Sgt. Henry White stopped the car just before 7 p.m. Friday after officers received information that the driver did not have a license. When White activated his lights, the vehicle sped off. Police said White then turned off his lights and followed while other officers responded to the area as a safety precaution. The car eventually stopped in the 200 block of Albany Avenue, police said. Two 14-year-old boys and two 16-year-old boys were taken into custody. Police said both 14-year-olds were found with marijuana, and one of the 16-year-olds was found with cocaine. The handgun was recovered from inside the car. Authorities said summonses for driving without a license had not yet been issued because police were still determining who had been driving. All four teens were charged with eluding and weapons offenses. One 16-year-old also was charged with cocaine possession, and the two 14-year-olds were charged with marijuana possession. All four were taken to the Harborfields Detention Facility.
