Linwood man shot; 4 from Philadelphia arrested
Atlantic City police said a 31-year-old Linwood man was wounded in a non-life-threatening shooting early July 28 on Atlantic Avenue after an argument involving several men, bar staff, and patrons. Four Philadelphia men were charged, and police said a loaded gun and evidence of gunfire were found in the suspect vehicle.
Four people from Philadelphia were charged in connection with a shooting in Atlantic City over the weekend.
According to the Atlantic City Police Department, officers responded at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, July 28, to the 2400 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a shooting. At the scene, they found a 31-year-old man from Linwood who had been shot. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division and was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said their investigation found that several men had become involved in an argument with staff and patrons at a local bar. The men then got into a vehicle, and a passenger fired a gunshot from inside the vehicle. Officers obtained a description of the vehicle and the suspects. Officer Moustafa Maarouf later located the vehicle in the first block of North North Carolina Avenue.
Police said two occupants of the vehicle, Javier Saloma, 19, and Felix Gomez-Villa, 38, both of Philadelphia, were taken into custody. Investigators said a loaded gun and evidence of gunfire were found inside the vehicle.
Detectives later identified two additional suspects, Alexis Jeromino Torres, 22, and Carlos Medina Morales, 23, also of Philadelphia. Jeromino Torres was arrested on July 29 in the 2900 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. Medina Morales surrendered the following day at the public safety building.
Felix Gomez-Villa was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. Javier Saloma, Alexis Jeromino Torres, and Carlos Medina Morales were each charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, and conspiracy. Police said all four were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
