Two arrested in shooting that wounded man, woman
Atlantic City police charged Quadir Stanley and Claria Barrigher in a May 24, 2019 shooting outside Lighthouse Plaza on Atlantic Avenue that wounded a 30-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman. Investigators later searched an apartment in the building and said they found a loaded handgun and multiple drugs. Stanley additionally was charged with aggravated assault.
Atlantic City police arrested two people in connection with a May 24 shooting outside Lighthouse Plaza at 300 Atlantic Ave. that wounded a man and a woman.
Police said Quadir Stanley, 30, and Claria Barrigher, 27, were charged in the shooting. Officers were called to the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. for a report of men shooting paintball guns, but when they arrived they were told people may have been shot with a firearm.
Around the same time, a 30-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both from Atlantic City, arrived at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus with gunshot wounds.
According to Sgt. Kevin Fair, the investigation led police to search an apartment in the building, where they found a loaded handgun, 899 bags of heroin, nearly 2.5 ounces of cocaine, 5.5 grams of ecstasy and 2.5 grams of marijuana.
Stanley was arrested June 3 in Camden, and Barrigher was arrested June 5 in Pleasantville. Both were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, four counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession with intent to distribute CDS. Stanley also was charged with aggravated assault, indicating investigators believe he was the shooter.
A witness told BreakingAC that a verbal argument between two women appeared to precede the gunfire, and that others then joined in. The witness said a man was seen hitting a woman just before shots were fired and said he saw one man shot in the leg while gunfire was still continuing. This witness account was not presented as an official police finding.
