Police in Atlantic City said a 17-year-old boy was charged after arriving at the hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg. Officers said they found heroin, cocaine, marijuana and a spent shell casing on him, and described the shooting as accidental.
ATLANTIC CITY — A 17-year-old boy was charged Thursday night after he walked into the hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. According to Atlantic City police, officers responded at 8:47 p.m. to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, after receiving a report that the teenager had entered the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said officers found 54 bags of heroin, 65 bags of cocaine, three grams of marijuana and one spent shell casing on him. The juvenile was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of possession with intent to distribute, according to police. Police said the gunshot was an accidental, self-inflicted injury. After being treated, the teenager was arrested, released to a parent and given a future court date.
