Bronx man arrested in Atlantic City shooting

Atlantic City police said a 25-year-old Bronx man, Luis Mercado-Cabrera, was arrested in New York in connection with a Feb. 26 shooting at Windsor and Ventnor avenues that wounded a man. He was charged with aggravated assault and weapon offenses and was being held pending extradition to Atlantic County.
A Bronx man has been arrested in connection with an Atlantic City shooting that wounded a man last month. Luis Mercado-Cabrera, 25, had already been charged in the Feb. 26 shooting at Windsor and Ventnor avenues when police tracked him to New York, according to the report. Detectives with Atlantic City’s Violent Crimes Unit worked with detectives in New York, who located Mercado-Cabrera on March 21. Mercado-Cabrera is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was being held at the Manhattan Detention Complex pending extradition back to Atlantic County. Court records show he had a court date scheduled for April 4.
