Atlantic City man dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound
Police said a 40-year-old Atlantic City man died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound early Tuesday morning on the 200 block of North Connecticut Avenue. Officers responded after a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots and found the man wounded; he was later pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.

An alert from the city's ShotSpotter audio-gunshot detection system at about 6:40 a.m. led officers to the 200 block of North Connecticut Avenue for multiple gunshots, according to Police Department spokesman Matthew Duffy. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The 40-year-old victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation by detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit determined that the shooting was self-inflicted.
