Atlantic City police arrested two men and recovered a handgun after responding to reports of shots fired Tuesday evening, according to police. Officers responded to the 900 block of Sewell Avenue at about 5:08 p.m. after hearing gunshots in the area. Police said surveillance center personnel saw suspects fleeing and alerted officers with descriptions. Officers Justin Draper and Robert Reynolds then saw two men on the porch of a residence in the 800 block of Blaine Avenue who matched the descriptions of the fleeing suspects, police said. As officers spoke with the men, one of them, Binniss Bailey, 20, of Atlantic City, allegedly tried to run. Police said Draper quickly detained him and found a loaded handgun in Bailey’s waistband. Bailey was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and resisting arrest. The second man, Jaire Bailey, 20, of Pine Hill, Camden County, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest, police said. Both men were taken to the Atlantic County jail.
