Man arrested after shooting at Atlantic City motel, stabbing
Atlantic City police arrested an Egg Harbor City man Tuesday in connection with two separate violent incidents: a shooting at the Econo Lodge on Pacific Avenue and a stabbing near Georgia and Pacific avenues. Police said the stabbing victim was injured while intervening as the suspect allegedly tried to steal a woman's purse. The man was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery and weapons offenses.
ATLANTIC CITY — An Egg Harbor City man was arrested Tuesday in connection with separate shooting and stabbing incidents, police said.
Police said Robert Harrell, 30, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. at the Econo Lodge in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue.
Earlier that night, officers responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus for a patient who had been admitted with a stab wound. Police said the 62-year-old victim had been driven to the hospital after being stabbed at Georgia and Pacific avenues.
According to police, the victim was stabbed while intervening as Harrell allegedly attempted to steal a woman’s purse. The victim gave police a description of Harrell and the direction he ran after the stabbing.
Police also said Harrell was wanted in a Dec. 30 shooting at the Econo Lodge, where a 28-year-old victim was shot multiple times.
Harrell was charged with attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault, robbery, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was taken to the Atlantic County jail.
