ATLANTIC CITY — Officers arrested two Atlantic City men who were allegedly caught shoplifting Monday at Bass Pro Shops at The Walk, police said. According to police, Marquise Harrison, 20, and Khalif Ardis, 21, were trying to steal a handgun magazine and other items from the sporting goods store on Christopher Columbus Boulevard before officers Gabriel Chevere and Syed Shah arrived at the scene at about 1:45 p.m. Police said Harrison began fighting with officers as they tried to take him into custody and punched Chevere in the face. During the struggle, Harrison dropped a handgun, police said. Ardis also had a handgun, according to police. Police said Harrison’s gun was stolen from Pennsylvania and was loaded with hollow-point ammunition. Both men had active warrants for their arrest and were charged with weapons offenses and contempt of court. Harrison was also charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and shoplifting. The two men were being held at the Atlantic County jail.
