3 Atlantic City teens charged in robbery, shooting
Police said three Atlantic City teens were arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery and shooting earlier in November 2018. The victim, a 21-year-old Galloway Township resident, was shot after being robbed while in a car with others near Ohio and Magellan avenues in Atlantic City. His injuries were reported as not life-threatening.
ATLANTIC CITY — Three teens from Atlantic City were arrested Friday and charged in connection with an armed robbery and shooting earlier this month, police said.
Police responded Nov. 9 to Ohio and Magellan avenues for a report of a man shot. According to police, the victim, a 21-year-old Galloway Township resident, was with a friend in a car with three other people when those individuals stole the victim’s money and shot him before leaving the car.
Police did not specify which of the three suspects fired the shot, but said all three were charged with robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and conspiracy.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
One suspect was identified as Rasheem Maldonado, 18, who turned himself in to detectives Friday at the Public Safety Building. Two unidentified 16-year-olds were also arrested Friday by Officer Eric Evans in the 1100 block of Arctic Avenue. Maldonado was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing, while the other two teens were taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Facility in Egg Harbor City.
