AC man shot near Michigan Avenue and Grant Avenue in the city
A 23-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot Saturday near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Grant Avenue in Atlantic City, police said. Officers responded after a ShotSpotter alert and tried unsuccessfully to stop a car leaving the scene. Police said the wounded man was driving that car and later took himself to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with a gunshot wound that did not appear life-threatening.
ATLANTIC CITY — A 23-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot Saturday near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Grant Avenue, according to police.
Police said officers went to the scene after receiving an alert from ShotSpotter, a system that detects gunfire in the city. Officers attempted to stop a car leaving the area but were unsuccessful.
According to police, the car was being driven by the man who had been shot. He later drove himself to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with a gunshot wound that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The investigation was being led by the police Violent Crimes Unit.
