Two men arrested on Atlantic City Boardwalk, one with a handgun
Atlantic City police said two men were arrested Saturday morning after an altercation on the Boardwalk in which one suspect allegedly tried to hand a gun to the other and then discarded the handgun while fleeing officers. Both men were taken into custody and faced multiple charges.
ATLANTIC CITY — Two men were arrested Saturday morning following an altercation on the Boardwalk, and police said one of them discarded a handgun during the incident.
According to police, District officers assigned to the Boardwalk were approached by a potential victim who said two men were attempting to assault him and that one of them had a handgun.
Police said the two men, Brett Baglio and Malik Stitts, attempted to assault the victim, and Stitts allegedly tried to hand Baglio a gun before noticing officers on the Boardwalk.
Officers Maria Corsani and Warren Young chased Stitts to Arkansas and Pacific avenues, while Baglio remained at the scene. During the pursuit, police said Stitts removed the gun from his waistband and threw it into bushes along Pacific Avenue.
Both men were taken into custody. Stitts, of Newport News, Virginia, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence. Baglio, of Millville, was charged with terroristic threats.
