Three Atlantic County men indicted for gang-related activity, drug and gun charges
An Atlantic County grand jury indicted three men in connection with a March 2017 shooting in Atlantic City and related gang, drug and gun allegations, according to Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner. The men named were Laque Boggs of Pleasantville, Quamir Gerald of Absecon and Quaheim Garner of Hamilton Township. Authorities said Boggs was in custody, while police were looking for Garner and Gerald.
For the second time in seven days, an Atlantic County grand jury returned an indictment charging multiple Atlantic County men with gang-related activity, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
The Jan. 25 indictment charged Laque Boggs, 21, of Pleasantville; Quamir Gerald, 21, of Absecon; and Quaheim Garner, 21, of Hamilton Township in a nine-count case stemming from a March 9, 2017, shooting in the 200 block of North Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City.
According to authorities, members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to multiple ShotSpotter alerts in the Meadows housing complex. Officials said Boggs, Gerald and Garner were identified as among multiple shooters involved in the incident. One person was found with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Tyner said the investigation indicated the men were in the process of filming a video near the border of rival gang territory when an exchange of gunfire broke out. State Police also alerted the Prosecutor’s Office that ballistics testing may have connected shell casings from the March 9 shooting to two other incidents: the shooting of an Atlantic City man in Pleasantville in December 2016, and a handgun recovered during an unrelated death investigation in Atlantic City in November 2017. Further testing was being done to confirm that link.
The indictment charged Boggs, Gerald and Garner with gang criminality tied to possession of a community gun in association with, or for the benefit of, the South Side Mob criminal street gang. The indictment also charged them with gang criminality in connection with harassment and cyber-harassment.
Boggs was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and related offenses, including pointing a firearm at or in the direction of citizen bystanders in the Meadows housing complex, according to Tyner. Gerald was also charged with possession of heroin and cocaine.
Police were looking for Garner and Gerald. Boggs was being held at the Atlantic County jail.
The indictment followed a cooperative gang investigation involving the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit, the Atlantic City Police Violent Crimes Unit, and the Pleasantville Police Street Crimes Unit.
