An 18-year-old Atlantic City man was charged after police said he shot at a vehicle with four people inside in Atlantic City. No one was injured. The suspect was charged with multiple assault and weapons offenses as well as tampering with evidence and conspiracy.
An 18-year-old Atlantic City man is facing assault and weapons charges after police said he shot at a vehicle. No one was injured in the shooting. Police responded to a ShotSpotter notification in the 100 block of South Drive. When officers arrived, they learned that someone had fired at a car with four people inside, according to police. As part of the investigation, detectives distributed information about the suspect's vehicle to law enforcement agencies. Officer Albert Herbert later located the vehicle in the 300 block of Arctic Avenue, and police identified the owner as Juan Aquino Silva. Silva was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, tampering with evidence and conspiracy following an investigation by Violent Crimes Unit detectives and Detective Peter Calabrese. Police said Silva was sent to the Atlantic County jail on $200,000 bail. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Atlantic City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Section.
