New Jersey Man Killed in Atlantic City Sunday Night
Atlantic City police responded to a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots on the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue on January 7, 2024, and found two men with gunshot wounds. Kevin Gayle Jr., 37, of Marmora, later died at the hospital, while Lyndon Russell Jr., 24, of Atlantic City, was treated and admitted. The shooting remains under investigation.
Authorities in Atlantic City said that on January 7, 2024, at about 10:06 p.m., the Atlantic City Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots in the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue. Responding officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Kevin Gayle Jr., 37, of Marmora, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was taken to AtlantiCare Medical Center, city division, where he was pronounced dead.
Lyndon Russell Jr., 24, of Atlantic City, was also found with a gunshot wound. He was transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center, city division, where he was treated and admitted to the hospital.
Authorities said the cause and manner of death for Gayle are pending an autopsy by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The case is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.
