ATLANTIC CITY — A ShotSpotter alert led to the discovery of a dead man early Tuesday morning. The man, identified as Williams, 32, of the 100 block of Ohio Avenue, was found in an alley near his home at about 1:50 a.m., according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain. An earlier alert from the city’s gunshot-detection system brought police to the area, he said. Williams was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. It was not clear why there was a delay. Authorities said the death was believed to be a homicide, but confirmation was awaiting the results of an autopsy. No other information was released at the time. The article noted that Williams had a pending aggravated assault case out of Hamilton Township, according to court records. He had been arrested in June after allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old man during a fight at a William Davies Middle School graduation. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit was leading the investigation with Atlantic City police. Anyone with information was asked to contact Major Crimes or Atlantic City police.
