2 Teens Charged in the Shooting Death of a 14-year-old in Atlantic City

Two 16-year-olds from Atlantic City were charged after a January 5 shooting on the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue that left a 14-year-old boy dead and another 16-year-old wounded. Authorities said both teens arrested face firearm-related charges, and one of them was also one of the shooting victims.
Two juveniles from Atlantic City have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy earlier this month. According to authorities, Atlantic City police responded on the night of January 5 to the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue for a disturbance involving numerous people and possible gunfire. At the scene, officers found two juveniles who had been shot. One victim, a 16-year-old from Atlantic City identified by authorities as "A.C.," was treated at AtlantiCare Medical Center-City Division for a gunshot wound to the leg. The second victim, a 14-year-old boy identified as "F.G.," was also taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He died from his injuries the following day. Authorities arrested two 16-year-olds in connection with the shooting. "A.C.," who was also one of the people shot, was charged with second-degree aggravated assault by discharging a firearm at another person, fourth-degree pointing a firearm in the direction of another person, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree possession of a firearm without a permit to carry. He was arrested January 9 and lodged in the Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center. A second juvenile, identified as "L.C.," was charged with second-degree aggravated assault by discharging a firearm at another person, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree possession of a firearm without a permit to carry. He was also arrested January 9 and is being held at the Essex County Youth Detention Center. The case is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit. Authorities noted that the charges are accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
