Two men sentenced in 2015 fatal shooting at Atlantic City hotel
Two men were each sentenced to more than 60 years in prison in connection with the 2015 shooting death of a Mays Landing man at an Atlantic City hotel. The victim, Devonte Molley, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and later died at the hospital. The two men had been convicted of felony murder and gun offenses, while a third man was convicted of reckless manslaughter and theft.
MAYS LANDING — Two men were each sentenced to more than 60 years in prison for the 2015 murder of a Mays Landing man at an Atlantic City hotel, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said Wednesday.
Authorities said emergency responders were called to the Baymont Inn & Suites Atlantic City Madison Hotel, where they found Devonte Molley, 22, bleeding from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Maurice Burgess, 29, of Galloway Township, and Sterling Spence, 30, of Pleasantville, were convicted in January of felony murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a firearm by a convicted person.
A third man, Charles Wynn, 29, of Egg Harbor Township, was convicted in January of reckless manslaughter and theft in Molley’s death.
