Three people were shot in two separate incidents within two hours early Saturday morning in Atlantic City, police said.
Just after midnight, police found a man shot in the back in the 300 block of Arctic Avenue, where a large party was being held, according to Sgt. Chris Barber of the Violent Crimes Unit. Barber said the victim’s injuries were considered life-threatening, and he remained hospitalized at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus.
Later, just before 2 a.m. Saturday, 911 calls and alerts from the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system brought police to the 100 block of Sewell Avenue, where they found Andrew Smiley, 20, shot in the leg, Barber said. He was taken to the hospital.
A second victim was found in the 700 block of Maryland Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Police identified him as Bryant Marsh, 25. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The article says this was the second time this year Marsh had been shot; he had previously been wounded in the leg in May.
Detectives Charles Stuart and Joseph Procopio were investigating the shootings. Police asked anyone with information to contact Atlantic City police or CrimeStoppers.
