Atlantic City police were investigating a shooting that wounded a woman Saturday night. The woman was found in the 900 block of North Maryland Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. after police received 911 calls and an alert from the ShotSpotter gunshot-detection system. Police said the woman, whose identity was not released, suffered gunshot wounds to her legs and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment. Sgt. Chris Barber of the Violent Crimes Unit said she was not believed to have been the intended target. A second series of gunshots was also being investigated. No other injuries were reported. Detectives were continuing the investigation and asked anyone with information to contact Atlantic City police or Crime Stoppers.
