Atlantic City police arrest three wanted suspects with handguns

One suspect, Vera Rivera, 30, was arrested at about 2 p.m. Tuesday by Vice Detective William Warner. Police said Rivera agreed to a search of her home on Italy Terrace, where officers found a stolen .22-caliber handgun. She was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and receiving stolen property. Police said she also had outstanding warrants from Atlantic City, Hamilton Township, and Northfield, and was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 full cash bail.
A second suspect, Wilbor Hopewell, 40, was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on warrants from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and Galloway’s Point. Police said officers arrested him on the beach block of Ocean Avenue and found him with a .45-caliber handgun as well as heroin. He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, heroin possession, and outstanding warrants out of Atlantic County. Police said he was arrested by Detectives Will Ferrerias, Darrin Florey, and T.J. Moynihan, and bail was set at $100,000 full cash.
About a half-hour later, State Parole and Atlantic City police officers arrested Quashan Turner in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue. Turner, 29, was wanted on an attempted murder charge in Trenton, where he lives, police said. Officers said they found him with a .45-caliber handgun and crack cocaine. He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, and possession within 500 feet of a public park. Police said he was jailed on $100,000 full cash bail.
