Atlantic City police recovered two guns, including one reported stolen from Georgia, during a drug investigation Friday morning. The city’s SWAT team and Vice Unit searched a home on the 100 block of Vermont Avenue at about 6:45 a.m. after an investigation by Detective Garry Stowe, Lt. James Sarkos said. Police said they found a Walther P22 semiautomatic handgun reported stolen from Tifton, Georgia, along with a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver. Investigators also recovered distribution amounts of cocaine, packaging materials, and approximately $25,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales, Sarkos said. Gerard Jasper and Sarita Porecha, both 30 and of Atlantic City, were each charged with two counts of possession of a weapon, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, possession within 500 feet of a park, receiving stolen property, and possession of a weapon during a drug offense. Jasper was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 full cash bail. Porecha’s bail was set at $50,000 full cash.
