A 15-year-old was arrested after an Atlantic City shooting Thursday night that wounded another teenage boy in the shoulder. Police said the victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening, and the suspect was charged with aggravated assault and multiple weapons offenses.
One teen was wounded and another was arrested in an Atlantic City shooting Thursday night. ShotsSpotter alerted police to the 100 block of Drexel Avenue at about 10:50 p.m. There, officers found a 16-year-old who had been shot in the shoulder, according to Sgt. Chris Barber of the Violent Crimes Unit. The teen, whose name was not released because of his age, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. Officers George Adams and Chris Smith checked the area and found a .45-caliber gun on a teen they stopped near New York and Melrose avenues, according to the report. Detectives Joseph Iacovone and Charles Stuarte investigated and charged a 15-year-old with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a defaced firearm. He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City. His name was not released because of his age. Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
