Atlantic City police were investigating two separate shootings that wounded two people within about eight hours Saturday. A man was in serious but stable condition after being shot in the head in Stanley Holmes Village that afternoon. Just before 4 p.m., the ShotSpotter gunshot-detection system alerted police to the third village of Stanley Holmes, Lt. Robert Campbell, who heads the city’s Violent Crimes Unit, said. Police found Jibreel Harmon, 25, of Atlantic City, in the 600 block of North Kentucky Avenue just before 4 p.m. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where it was discovered that the bullet had fragmented and came to rest behind his heart, Campbell said. Police were reviewing surveillance video in the area to see whether it captured the shooter. At about 8:05 a.m., ShotSpotter had alerted police to the 900 block of North Kentucky Avenue, but officers found no crime scene or victim there. About a half-hour later, Courtney Griffin, 22, walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot. It was the second time Griffin had been shot that summer. On July 18, he was shot in the face about five blocks away in the 900 block of North New York Avenue. He had been living in Pleasantville at that time, but police said he was now staying in Atlantic City. Two people were wounded in that July shooting: Griffin was found at the scene, and Rashad Newsome came to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg. No arrests had been made in that case. As of Saturday morning, police were canvassing the area of the ShotSpotter alert, but no evidence had been found. Detective Joe Iacovone was investigating. Anyone with information was asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
