A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday in Georgia and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Atlantic City last month. According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the teen was also charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose. Prosecutors said the suspect was found at a home in South Fulton, Georgia, by local police. He was being held at a Georgia jail while awaiting extradition to New Jersey. The victim, Damaj Bennett, 17, of Atlantic City, was shot June 27 in the 1200 block of Atlantic Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, according to prosecutors. An autopsy found the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. Police and the Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation was continuing.
