UPDATE: Suspect Identified in Early Morning Fatal Shooting on Atlantic City Boardwalk
Authorities said an Egg Harbor City man was charged after a fatal shooting on the Atlantic City Boardwalk early March 18, 2023. Police responded around 1:55 a.m. to the 1900 block of the boardwalk, where Eric Wynn, 34, of Atlantic City, was found with a gunshot wound and later pronounced dead. Officials said suspect Jahlil Boston, 34, was apprehended within minutes while allegedly carrying a loaded semi-automatic firearm, and investigators said the shooting was not random because the men knew each other.
Authorities reported that an Egg Harbor City man has been charged in a fatal shooting that occurred early on March 18, 2023, in the 1900 block of the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
According to officials, at approximately 1:55 a.m., the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a report of a male gunshot victim in that area. The victim was later pronounced dead and was identified as Eric Wynn, 34, of Atlantic City.
Officials said the Atlantic City Police Department and the ACHILES Surveillance Center responded immediately. They said Jahlil Boston, 34, was apprehended within minutes of the shooting and was allegedly found in possession of a loaded semi-automatic firearm.
Investigators said Boston and Wynn were acquainted and that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Authorities said Boston was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of CDS (suspected cocaine), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute while in a public zone, possession of a weapon while in the course of possessing CDS with intent to distribute, possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine, and possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a predicate offense.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit. Officials said Boston would be lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending his first court appearance.
