Atlantic City man charged in June 26 murder
Atlantic City prosecutors charged 37-year-old Kelsey Smith with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon in the June 26 shooting death of 40-year-old Robert Stanley Davis. Authorities said Davis was found unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to the head outside the Shore Park apartments on Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City and was pronounced dead at the scene.
ATLANTIC CITY — An Atlantic City man has been charged in the June 26 shooting death of another city resident, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Kelsey Smith, 37, was charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of 40-year-old Robert Stanley Davis. Authorities said Smith is being held in the Atlantic County jail.
At about 9:35 p.m. on June 26, police were alerted to a man lying on the sidewalk outside the Shore Park apartments at 225 S. Virginia Ave. When officers arrived, they found Davis unresponsive with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy performed by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined that he died from a gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The killing was identified as Atlantic City's first homicide of 2025.
