N.Y. man had gun when arrested in Atlantic City shooting, police say
Police said a 30-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested two days after a daylight shooting in Atlantic City that wounded a man on Morris Avenue. Officers said they found him on the Boardwalk, where a struggle occurred and he allegedly dropped a satchel containing a .40-caliber handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.
A Brooklyn man was armed when he was arrested last week in connection with an Atlantic City shooting, police said.
Neil Henry, 30, is charged in the Aug. 28 daylight shooting that wounded a man on Morris Avenue just before 1 p.m., according to Sgt. Paul Aristizabal.
Police said an investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit led to a description of the suspect, who was arrested two days later. Officer Troy Grams and Kevin McGloin saw a man matching that description at 11:41 p.m. Aug. 30 in the 2900 block of the Boardwalk, Aristizabal said.
The officers approached Henry, who became agitated while they were talking to him and tried to walk away, according to the report. Police said he refused orders to stop, and a struggle followed.
During the struggle, Henry dropped a satchel containing a .40-caliber handgun, according to the charges. Investigators believe it was the gun used in the shooting.
Henry was jailed on weapons charges, along with two counts each of aggravated assault and resisting arrest, and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
