Fugitive Arrested In Atlantic City Armed Robbery, Shooting, Pistol-Whipping Victim: Police

Atlantic City police arrested Jeremiah Hurt, 42, of Atlantic City on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, in connection with a December 2021 shooting and armed robbery, authorities said.
Police said members of the department’s Special Investigations Section took Hurt into custody at 9:57 a.m. on an arrest warrant tied to the case.
The investigation stems from a Dec. 10, 2021 incident at about 6:16 p.m. in the 500 block of North Ohio Avenue in Atlantic City. Officers responding to a report of a shooting found a man with gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, and treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
According to police, detectives in the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit identified Hurt as the suspect. Investigators alleged that Hurt pistol-whipped and shot the victim before robbing him of cash.
Police said Hurt was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a weapon, and conspiracy. He was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
