ATLANTIC CITY — Police arrested a man and a woman Friday after, authorities say, the woman shot the man and both were later found with drugs. At about 2:11 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, after Leonard Oglesby arrived at the emergency department suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. Police said Oglesby was evasive when questioned about how the shooting happened. At about 3 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Caspian Avenue after a report that an apartment door was left open. Police said a window inside was shattered, there was blood outside the door, and officers also found blood inside the residence, but no one was home. Investigators determined that Oglesby had been shot there. Detectives identified Oglesby’s girlfriend, Shawniqua Hudson, as the suspect in the shooting, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. A warrant also was issued for Oglesby’s arrest in connection with criminal mischief related to the broken window. At about 1:40 p.m. Friday, Officers Nikolai Ivanov and Consuelo Maldonado found Hudson’s vehicle in the first block of South Texas Avenue. Hudson was inside the vehicle and was taken into custody. Police said she was found carrying 5 grams of cocaine and a small amount of heroin. While officers were still on scene, Oglesby approached the vehicle and was taken into custody on his warrant. Police said he was found carrying 11 grams of powder cocaine, 7 grams of crack cocaine, 8 grams of heroin, 103 bags of heroin, and multiple prescription medication pills. Hudson, 33, of Atlantic City, was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Oglesby, 31, of Atlantic City, was charged with criminal mischief, five counts of possession of CDS, and five counts of possession with intent to distribute. Both were sent to the Atlantic County jail.
