Shooting victim sought in Atlantic City gun case
Atlantic City police arrested 25-year-old Marcus Seda in connection with a Friday night shooting that wounded Rumeijah Norwood, then also charged him in an Oct. 19 shooting that injured a 57-year-old man. Investigators say Norwood, who was shot, is also wanted because he allegedly pointed a handgun at Seda about 10 minutes before the shooting.
Atlantic City police arrested Marcus Seda, 25, after investigating a shooting that occurred just after 11 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Atlantic Avenue. Police were alerted by ShotSpotter, and shortly afterward learned that Rumeijah Norwood had arrived at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus with a gunshot wound, according to Lt. Kevin Fair.
The investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit led detectives to Seda. Police said detectives also determined that Norwood had pointed a handgun at Seda about 10 minutes before the shooting. Norwood, 28, is now wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon.
Seda was arrested Tuesday in the 1100 block of Arctic Avenue on a warrant tied to the Friday shooting. After his arrest, he was also charged in an Oct. 19 shooting in the 2500 block of Camarotta Terrace that wounded a 57-year-old man just after 5 a.m.
Police said Seda had been released from prison April 24 after serving about two years of a five-year sentence on several gun charges. Department of Corrections records show he had three pending weapons cases when he was arrested with a gun in January 2019 and was sentenced in July 2019.
Seda is jailed on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon due to his prior criminal history. Police asked anyone with information about either incident or Norwood’s whereabouts to contact the Atlantic City Police Department.
