Two teens arrested in shooting of Atlantic City girl
Atlantic City police said two juveniles, ages 16 and 14, were arrested after a shooting on the 700 block of Ohio Avenue wounded a 17-year-old girl. The victim’s injury was not considered life-threatening. Both teens were charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses and taken to Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
Two teens were arrested in connection with a shooting that wounded a 17-year-old girl in Atlantic City, police said.
A ShotSpotter alert sent patrol officers to the 700 block of Ohio Avenue just before 4 p.m. Monday, according to Lt. Kevin Fair. When officers arrived, they found the Atlantic City teenager suffering from a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening.
After an investigation by Officers Joseph Kelly and Justin Peyton, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were charged in the case. The two juveniles were arrested at about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday by Detectives Fariyd Holmes and Malik Tolbert, police said.
Both were charged with three counts of aggravated assault, as well as unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and conspiracy. They were taken to Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center. Their names were not released because they are minors.
