Texas Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Fatal Atlantic City Shooting
Frank Torres-Lopez, 27, of Katy, Texas, was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison for the August 1, 2021 fatal shooting of J.F. outside Los Compadres Bar in Atlantic City. Authorities said he fled to Puerto Rico after the shooting, altered his appearance, obtained false identification, and was later apprehended by U.S. Marshals in October 2021.
Atlantic County authorities announced that Frank Torres-Lopez, 27, of Katy, Texas, was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison for the August 1, 2021 shooting death of victim J.F. outside Los Compadres Bar in Atlantic City.
According to officials, Torres-Lopez fled to Puerto Rico after the shooting, dyed his hair orange, and obtained a fake Puerto Rican identification card using a false alias. U.S. Marshals ultimately apprehended him in October 2021.
In December 2022, Torres-Lopez pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and hindering apprehension. He will be required to serve 85% of his 25-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Assistant Atlantic County Prosecutor Louis Casadia prosecuted the case for the state. Authorities said the investigation was conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office.
